Paul J. Rashid Sr., 87, of Girard, died at 10:25PM Friday February 10, 2012 at Briarfield at The Ridge Nursing Home.

He was born May 19, 1924 in Youngstown the son of Ray and Annabell Hicks Rashid and step-father John Weber.

Paul was employed as a pipe fitter and hydraulic specialist at Republic Steel before retiring in 1980, a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard and enjoyed fishing.

He was a United States Marine Corp veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre and received the Purple Heart and Silver Star.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Nancy Elinsky Rashid whom he married in 1948, two sons Paul John Rashid Jr, at home, and Michael G. Rashid and his wife Trace' of Midland, Michigan, two daughters, Paula Baker and Nancy Jane Rashid, both of Greensboro, North Carolina, four grandchildren, Kaycee Rashid and Tara Rashid, Greg Baker, Jenny Waller and her husband Bennett.

He is preceded in death by his step-father, a grandson, T.K. Rashid, two brothers, Ralph Rashid and Eddie Rashid, and two sisters, Rose Lord and Louise Rashid.

Funeral Services are private.

A family gathering will be held at a late date to pay tribute to Paul.
