Philip E. "Monty" Montevideo, 84, of 1888 Meadowlark Drive Niles, Ohio, died at 4:24AM Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles, Ohio.

He was born May 13, 1925 in Italy the son of Angelo and Marie Scali Montevideo.

Monty owned and operated Mony's Tailor in Niles for 34 years before retiring in 2005, a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Niles, Church Usher, and Niles Knights of Columbus Council 1681.

He enjoyed playing cards, wine making, gardening, attending Niles McKinley High School football games, and spending time with family.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Vickie Carabetta Montevideo whom he married September 13, 1952, a son Anthony J. Montevideo at home, three daughters, Linda Bennett and her husband Bruce of Niles, Debbie Ruse and her husband Ken of Boardman, and Judy Berry and her husband Steve of Jamison Pennsylvania, two brothers, Sam Montevideo of California, and Joseph Montevideo and his wife Mary of Niles, a sister Mary Jane Mosca and her husband Edward of Niles, 11 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Grace Montevideo.

Friends may call 5 to 8PM Sunday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 7:30PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 930AM Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Niles, with Fr. Larry Frient officiating, preceded by a 9:00AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi & Sons Funeral Home Inc., in Niles.
