Phyllis "Fifi" Gayonski, 87 , of Niles, died 10:15pm Thursday, December 2nd at Windsor House of Champion Nursing Home.

Phyllis was born September 26, 1923 in Niles the daughter of Gaetano and Marianne Segreto Mollica.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles and was a 1941 Niles McKinley High School graduate.

Phyllis was a homemaker, caregiver, and enjoyed sewing, crafts and ceramics. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who could always be seen with her husband at her grandchildren's events.

Her husband of 62 years, Joseph "Doughball" Gayonski whom she married on June 16, 1945, died February 4, 2008.

Phyllis will be deeply missed by a son Joseph J. Gayonski and his wife Mary Ann of Dayton, a daughter Carla Sutch and her husband Steve of Warren, a brother Sam Mollica and his wife Dorothy of Niles, six grandchildren, Jeff Gayonski and his wife Kelli, Gina Weckesser and her husband Kevin, Ashley Gayonski, Eric Sutch and his wife Krystie, Craig Sutch and his wife Jennifer, and Cara Sutch, and six great grandchildren, Mitch, Maggie, Katie, Annie, Phoenix and Luke.

She is preceded in death by three brothers, Tony, Pete and Joe Mollica, a sister Carmella Secola and a great grandson Joshua Jeffrey Gayonski.

Friends may call from 4-7pm Sunday December 5th at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles, where the Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30am Monday December 6th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 9:00am prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
