Robert A. DeChristofaro Sr., 92, of Niles, died peacefully at his residence early Tuesday morning, February 13, 2024.

He was born the son of Carmen H. and Florence Campana DeChristofaro in Rochester, Pennsylvania.

Robert was a 1950 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and received his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1954 from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was a United States Coast Guard veteran where he served as storekeeper 2nd class; and was honorably discharged in 1957.  He was employed at the former Republic Steel in Warren as a supervisor for 36 years before retiring in 1992. Robert was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, the Ben-Lin Club in Niles, Niles Frontliners, member of Niles Park and Recreation Board for 35 years, was a Letterman in Football and Baseball at Niles McKinley High School and also at Western Reserve University; even receiving an invitation to try out for the Cleveland Browns. Robert was a little league and pony league baseball coach for 11 years.   He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed attending his sons and grandchildren's sporting events.  He was an avid fan of the Niles Red Dragons, Warren JFK Eagles, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Browns.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 69 years, Carmel Donadio DeChristofaro, his high school sweetheart, whom he married February 12, 1955; son David DeChristofaro and his wife Becky of Niles;  son Carmen J. DeChristofaro of Niles; daughter Cathy DeChristofaro of Niles;  daughter-in-law Karen DeChristofaro of Niles; three grandchildren Carmen R. DeChristofaro of Cortland and his fiancée Lindsey; Angela Johnson and her husband Derek of Niles; Lindsey Barnhart and her husband Brad of Niles; and two great-grandchildren Kenzie and Emery Barnhart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Robert A. DeChristofaro Jr.; and a brother Carmen A. DeChristofaro.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday February 17, 2024 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles.
