Rose R. Aurilio, 81 of Niles, died at 8:05 AM on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Autumn Hills Care Center.

She was born August 16, 1928 in Niles to Pasquale and Antonette Toriello Gatta.

Rose was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Niles and was a member of their Immaculate Conception Society. Rose enjoyed volunteering at the church festival each year making twists and cheese puffs.

Rose was a manager at Lustigs Shoe Store in Niles for many years and later enjoyed working beside her husband, Geno, in retail at several flea markets in Florida as a retirement pasttime.

She enjoyed taking gambling trips, playing bingo, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her large extended family. Rose always looked forward to the family reunions each summer.

Her husband, Louis "Geno" Aurilio, whom she married July 12, 1947 preceded her in death on November 18, 2007. Rose deeply missed Geno every day since then.

Rose truly lived for her family. She will be deeply missed by a son, Gabriel Aurilio and his wife Debbie, of Cortland. Rose will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Craig and Beth Aurilio, Gabrielle and Jeremy Blatt and Jason Aurilio. Rose leaves five brothers who always looked out for her: Lawrence Gatta and his wife Bertha, Norman Gatta and his wife Santa, Dominick Gatta and his wife Mickey, Anthony Gatta and his wife Roselynn, and Jerry Gatta and his wife Connie. She had six great-grandchildren: Elexea, Michael, Zachary, Avallina, Victorianna and Luca.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Immaculate Conception Society and Mt. Carmel Bereavment Ministry will conduct prayers at 7:30PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles, with Fr. Larry Frient officiating, preceded by a 9:30 AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
