Ruth M. Candio, 80, of Niles, passed away on Friday July 17, 2026 at Shepherd of The Valley Liberty.

She was born January 26, 1946 in Warren the daughter of Walter and Catherine (Regal) Thompson.

Ruth was a 1964 graduate of Lakeview High School and a 1968 graduate of Hiram College with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English with Honors.

She was employed as a legal assistant for the law firms of Millstone and Kannensohn and Werner, Suit, and Corry retiring in 1996. She taught English at Niles McKinley Schools and was a substitute teacher there for several years.

She was a member of Saint Pope John XXIII Parish,-Mt. Carmel Church in Niles,enjoyed traveling, knitting, reading, and she was a marathon runner.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Maurice “Moe” Candio whom she married February 28, 1993, her two stepdaughters, Christina Drotar (Mark) of East Palestine, and Dena Haswell of Medina, and her three daughters, Michelle Killian of Madison Wisconsin, Cynthia Coody (JA) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Katy Molina (Henry) of Arizona, her sister Kathleen Wood of Cortland, and eleven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at a later date.
