Samuel J. "Chinks" D'Antuono, 89, of Niles died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Shepherd of The Valley Lutheran Home in Niles.
He was born December 7, 1922 in Niles the son of Dominic and Filomena LaSalandra D'Antuono.
He was a 1941 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, employed as a lineman for the City of Niles for 30 years retiring in 1985, a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Niles , enjoyed golfing, traveling, sports, and an avid Notre Dame Fan.
Chinks was a United States Army Veteran of World War II having served with The 3'rd Army with General Patton in The Battle of The Bulge.
He will be deeply missed by a brother Anthony D'Antuono of Niles and two sisters, Eleanor D'Antuono and Tomasina Naples with whom he made his home, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a brother Louis Muche and three sisters, Regina Paris, Mary Pavone, and Phyllis Antonelli.
Friends may call from 11:30 to 12:30AM Tuesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1PM Tuesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with Fr. Ronald Nuzzi officiating, preceded by a 12:30PM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery where Samuel will be honored for his military service by The Trumbull American Legion Honor Guard.
