Thamer D. Wright Sr., 92, of Niles died at 8:38AM Tuesday June 28, 2011 at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren, Ohio.
He was born August 15, 1918 in Brownton, West Virginia the son of John and Stella Callihan Wright.
Thamer was employed for 30 years as a punch press operator at American Welding in Niles before retiring in 1986, enjoyed gardening, an avid baseball fan especially The Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians, and a United States Army veteran of World War II.
His wife Opal Payton Wright whom he married August 26, 1944 died October 2, 2009.
He will be deeply missed by a son John Wright of Brandon, Mississippi, three daughters, Karen Cromley and her husband Charles of Niles, Dianna Dallas and her husband Richard of Cortland, and Alice Verlenich of Warren, eight grandchildren, Gretchen Gualandi, Charles Cromley, Robin Dallas, Richard A. Dallas and his wife Julie, Samuel Verlenich, Katie Egner and her husband David, Adam and Lyndsey Wright, and 10 great-grandchildren, Haley, Leah, and Macie Egner, Bryce Dallas, Samantha and Angelina Gualandi, Elizabeth and Victoria Cromley, Bobby and Roy Markwell. He is preceded in death by a son Thamer Wright Jr., infant granddaughter Ashley Nicole Wright, a son-in-law Sam Verlenich, and 13 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 11AM to 12PM Friday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Funeral service will be held 12PM Friday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles with Chaplain Carol Yablonovsky officiating.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Thamer will be honored for his military service by The Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
