Obituary

Ugo Thomas "Ghost" Scarnecchia, 92, of Niles died at 12:10pm Thursday November 14th at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. He was born August 28, 1921 in Niles, the son of Thomas and Anita Liberatore Scarnecchia and was a lifelong Niles resident. A 1940 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Ugo served in the United States Army during World War II, stationed at Fort Knox. He was employed at Carnegie Steel and retired from Allied Metals as a shear operator, was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles and was past president and member of the San Fellipe Neri Lodge and tended bar there for many years. In recent years he enjoyed going to the club with his nephew and buddy Ron Scarnecchia. His wife Gladys E. Scarnecchia, whom he married May 12, 1945, died January 17, 2000. Ugo will be deeply missed by his daughter Sandra (William) Ritz of Girard and with whom he made his home, two sons Ugo T.(Karen) Scarnecchia Jr. and Joseph P. (Cyd) Scarnecchia both of Niles, eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a brother Anthony Scarnecchia and a sister Mary Scarnecchia. Friends may call Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Noon Funeral Service at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles officiated by Pastor Curtis Miller. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery, where Ugo will be honored for his military service by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
