Vincent DiGeronimo, Niles, entered into eternal life on his 92nd birthday, Sunday January 8, 2017 at St. Joseph's Warren Hospital in Warren.
He was born January 8, 1925 in Montclair, New Jersey the son of Joseph and Clotilda Fusco DiGeronimo.
He was a 1944 graduate of Montclair High School and attended business college in Orange, New Jersey. He was employed by the city of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, the United States Postal Service, and owned and operated Vincent's Ice Cream from 1972 to 1984. Vincent was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, the Disabled American Veterans, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Postal Workers Union, and was a Trumbull Memorial Hospital volunteer. Vincent was an Army World War II veteran where he was a Purple Heart recipient. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, and loved watching his hometown team, the NY Yankees.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years, Anne Salerno DiGeronimo; two daughters, Mary-Beth Owen and her husband Brad of Evansville, Indiana and Nancy Walker and her husband Bob of Warren; four grandchildren, Nicole Kaufmann, Alex Owen, Courtney Young (Erik) and Michael Walker; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters and their husbands, Antoinette and Pete Caggiano and Elvira and Sal LaBrunda.
Friends may call on Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Vincent will be honored for his military service by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
