Marchese
May 9, 1920 – January 16, 2011
William "Willie" Marchese, 90,of Niles, went home and was reunited with his heavenly father and wife surrounded at his residence by his family on January 16, 2011.
He was born May 10, 1920 in Warren,Ohio the son of Peter and Angeline Ravella Marchese.
He met and married the love of his life Millie of 67 years who had just passed away on January 1, 2011.
Willie was owner and operator of Marchese and Sons Concrete Company for over 70 years along with his sons Raymond and John, then watching his grandsons Ronald Berry and Nick Marchese joining in the family business. A long time cement and blacktop finisher he was well known by his friends as Willie or Bill.
He always had a smile and was willing to help anyone he attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where he was a member of The Catholic Mens Club and Assistant Scout Leader and General Chairman of Mt. Carmel Boy Scout Troop #36 where with his friends they would take the boy scouts and his son John on week-end trips to Camp Chickagamee.
He along with his friend Frank Mauro would drive the bus and take the 7'th and 8'th grade girls to the Sisters of The Precious Blood Retreat home for week-end retreats.
His love and devotion to his church and his God given talents of being a cement finisher led him to donate many many hours to the school and church projects of pouring sidewalks and cementing curbs around the church.In his younger days you would see Willie with his friends Frank Mauro, Andy Bottliglieri, Harry Barbarini, Joe Cornicelli, Ray Liberartore, Joe Garito, Joe Rossi and many other people working the beer tent at The Mt. Carmel Festival to raise money for the church.
He loved his rides and going to breakfast with his son-in-law Steve and loved his daughter-in-law Josephine's homemade pizza and Italian cookies. Willie's favorite summer pastime was planting and harvesting his garden.
He is now joined with his wife Millie in heaven and surviving him are his five children;two sons John Marchese annd his wife Josephine of Arkansas, and Raymond of Niles, three daughters, Angie Dahringer and her husband Steve of Maryland, Linda Marchese and Marlane Berry of Niles, a brother Victor Marchese of Warren, and two sisters, Mary Jones , and Angie DeSantis of Niles, eight grandchildren, Debbie Hall, Raymond Dahringer, Dr. Sandra Johnson, Amy DeLatore, Jennifer Berry, Ronnie Berry, Marine Sergeant Nicholas Marchese, and Maria Marchese, and eight great-grandchildren, Brett, Megan, and Rachael Hall, Mark and Anna Johnson, Miguell, Gabriella, and Maria DeLatore.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law Ron Berry Sr., three brothers, Anthony, Guy, and Felix Marchese, and two sisters, Pauline Corso and Gloria Shever.
Friends may call from 4 to 7PM Wednesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30AM Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church With Father John MulQueen officiating, preceded by a 9AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
