William M. Mymo, Sr., 85, of Niles died at 6 PM Monday May 28 2012 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
He was born February 8, 1927 in Niles the son and twelfth child of Antonio and Josephine Sanfrey (Miamone) Mymo. William graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1945.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army on July 26,1945 and served his country proudly as a member of the Army Air Corp while stationed in the Philippines and received the Philippine Independence Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal.
He was united in marriage to Mary Zubko, the one and only true love of his life, on November 11, 1949. He lovingly cared for her in their home until she passed on March 7, 2006 after 57 years of marriage. They were members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Bill was retired from the City of Niles Light Department. He was a proud of his lifetime membership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was active in the Niles Men's Democratic Club. Bill loved to play bocce with his friends and belonged to several different leagues. An avid outdoors' man, he enjoyed small game hunting and fishing. He enjoyed gardening and lovingly tended seeds that were passed down to him from his Grandfather in Italy. His children and grandchildren now carry on the tradition.
It never took much to make him happy. All he ever wanted in life was the love of family and friends along with guidance and the blessings of God for him and those that he loved.
He will be deeply missed by his two sons, William M. Mymo Jr. of Niles and Michael Mymo and wife Kim of Warren, three daughters, Cathy Mae Altiero and her husband Tony of Ely, MN, Michelle Longo of Niles, and Lisa Braun and her husband James of Irmo, South Carolina. Brother James Mymo and sister Loretta Quinlan of Niles. seven grandchildren, Julie Ann Austin and her husband Mike of Baxter, Minnesota, Benjamin Longo of Niles, Anthony and Marisa Ronci of Youngstown, Nick and Natalie Mymo of Girard, Rachel and William Braun of Irmo, South Carolina,Jacob Mymo of Warren,five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by four brothers, Dominic Mymo, Anthony (Butch) Mymo, Sam Mymo, and Joseph Mymo, and six sisters, Mary Infante, Catherine Horniak, Roselyn Fonce, Lena Fogarty, Theresa Guarino, and Helen Albu.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 7:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30AM Friday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles with Fr. Dan Cipar officiating, preceded by a 9AM prayer service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Bill will be honored for his military service by The Girard Veterans Council Honor Guard
