William A. Tackett Jr. 77, of Niles passed away at 3:30 PM on Sunday, October 3, 2010 after a long illness. He was surrounded in life and at death by his devoted and loving wife and family.

He was born September 30, 1933 in Niles the son of William A. and Chester Whitt Tackett Sr.

He was employed for 28 years as a foreman at Packard Electric before retiring in 1992.

William was a member of Niles Christian Assembly, where he participated as one of the builders of the church. He also served on its board as a trustee and drove the Sunday school bus. He also attended First Assembly of God in Hermitage PA.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, flea markets, and took professional cooking classes after retirement, his specialty was cheesecake. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was a United States Army Veteran of The Korean Conflict having served in Germany and Korea and was honorably discharged on June 15, 1954.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Peggy Ann Estes Tackett whom he married July 27, 1956, four daughters Vicki Fisher of Medina, Ohio, Sherri Jones and her husband David of Howland, Traci Barber and her husband Tony of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, and Billi Jo Kirkwood and her husband Larry of Brunswick, two sisters, Jewell Cherry of Warren, and Betty Devine of Farrell, Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren, Stephanie Roshala, Nick Jones, Ryan and Bethany Kirkwood.

Friends may call from 5 to 8PM Wednesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Thursday at Niles Christian Assembly, North Road, with Pastors John Mizgerd and Mike Sabella officiating, preceded by a 10AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery in Warren where Bill will be honored for his military service by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
