Adelyn A. “Addy” Bellej, 93, of Niles went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday January 18, 2022.
She was born March 30, 1928 in Niles, the daughter of the late Anthony and Lida Vennetti Calderone.
Addy graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1945 and attended Youngstown College. She worked at The Pick Ohio Hotel in Youngstown and after raising her children worked for Travaglini Enterprises at Sandalinis and The VIP Complex as a payroll clerk and banquet coordinator until its closing.
On April 25, 1953 she married her cherished husband Joseph Bellej. They shared 45 years of marriage and many happy memories before his passing on November 17, 1998.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles and was active in The Women’s Guild, pizza sales, and festival volunteer. Addy cherished her family and enjoyed making special holiday dinners and was happiest when they were all together. She loved spending time with her grandchildren Heather and Ron Jr, which were some of her most treasured memories. Her many hobbies include reading and decorating her home, baking pizzelles and kolachi, and taking trips to the casino.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Janice(Ron) Orwig of Girard, Joyce Bellej(Jim Mace) of Palm Springs, California, Michelle(Matthew) Brooks of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Susan Bellej of Niles, a brother Walter “Moe” Calderone of Cave City, Kentucky, sister-in-law Florence Dornbush of Georgia, two grandchildren Heather(Marc) Meszaros, and Ron Orwig Jr.(Tracy and her son Tyler), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her loving husband she was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Modarelli and her husband Charles, and her sister-in-law Anne Calderone.

A private viewing will be held followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 11AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Niles. In following COVID protocols, facial coverings are mandatory for all family and friends coming to pay their respects at the church.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
