Anthony G. Nardo, 84, of Niles passed away on October 19, 2021, due to complications from an auto accident.
Tony was born July 17, 1937, in Warren, the son of Phillip J. and Julia F. Smurro Nardo.
Anthony was a 1955 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was a member of the 1955 Red Dragon football team that was the first in school history to remain undefeated. He attended Marquette University and Youngstown College.
He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles. He was employed as manager at AVCO Financial Services for 42 years, retiring in 1999.During his retirement years, Tony enjoyed spending time with his family and beloved dog Rai.
Additionally, Tony was an active member of his senior bowling leagues where he served as the teams’ treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Bonk Nardo, whom he married January 22, 2000 and entered into eternal rest June 4, 2019.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter Toni Renee Bonanno , stepchildren, Michael A. Albanese, III , Tamy Geist( Paul) Shiela Albanese, three grandchildren Justin Nardo, Melissa Creak, Dawn Creak, two great-grandchildren, Andrew Steider and Halie Steider, son-in-law Duane Creak, and Joseph Bonanno.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Tina Creak, and his beloved dog Chi-Chi
The family would like to give a special thanks to Cynthia Hlas, Shiela Albanese, and Larry Parks, who were essential in his care after the accident.
Friends may call from 5 to 7PM Friday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where the Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Facial coverings are required for all family and friends coming to pay their respects at the funeral home and at the church.
Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.
