Antonetta DeAngelis Obituary

Antonetta DeAngelis was born on April 18, 1951 in Campotosto,
Italy, to parents Pasqua (Cozzi) and Terigio. In 1956, with her
parents and younger sister Raphaela, she moved to Niles, Ohio,
where Antonetta lived on Mason St., near her brothers Ernie and
Ralph, for nearly all of her life.
Antonetta, who was also known by loved ones as Ant, Toni, and (most importantly) Zia,
loved her family and friends. She also loved music and dancing (especially Elvis and the
Beatles), watching Ohio State football, and Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, whom she met
while working at Alberini's in the late 1980's.
Antonetta taught her nieces and nephews about their Italian heritage, teaching them to
make pizzelles and Italian wedding cookies, translating for them when they traveled to
see family in Toronto, and showing them how to make pasta aglio e olio for the Feast of
Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. She also adored her grand-nephews, who were
learning to call her, "Zia Bella."
Antonetta loved Mt. Carmel church and regularly attended mass. Each summer she
would spend her days at the Mt. Carmel festival, enjoying spinach and potato pizza,
playing and volunteering at bingo, and meeting up with friends. More recently, she
found new friends at SCOPE Senior Services, where she enjoyed Bingo, chair yoga,
and eating.
When in Cincinnati, Zia, was a member of La Societe Fuscadese Feminili, enjoyed
activities with The Sons and Dance of Italy Lodge 1191, and The United Italian Society.
Although Antonetta had not been at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, for long
when she died on January 12, 2023, she nonetheless befriended all of the nurses, who
took incredible care of her during her last days in the ICU.
We hope when you think of Ant and our Zia, you will remember the things she loved,
and if you knew her, how much she loved you.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Friday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in
Niles, where family and friends may call one hour prior.
