Carmellia “Frances” Shinaberry, 85, formerly of Niles, Ohio died Wednesday, November 27th, following complications from Alzheimer’s. She passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
She was born June 6, 1934 in Norton, West Virginia, the daughter of Louie and Emelia Pratt Altiere. Her parents were proud immigrants from Italy, and she was the youngest of 11 children. Frances was a 1952 graduate of Elkins High School where she was a majorette and member of the marching band. She was a devoted member and supporter of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles for 60 years, a member of the local Welcome Wagon community and a supporter of Niles Schools and especially the marching band. Cooking, travelling, volunteering, and spending time with her family were her greatest joys.
Frances is survived by her husband Gale F. Shinaberry, whom she married April 7, 1956, and their three children: Diana Greenspan and husband Barry of Fairlawn, Ohio, Dennis Shinaberry and wife Lynda of Estero, Florida, & Mary Nicastro and husband Mark of Carmel, Indiana. Along with five grandchildren Jaclyn Donadio (Jon), Nick Donadio (Emma), Amanda Ahern (Michael), Taylor Greenspan (Jeff), and Brittany Nicastro, and great granddaughter Brooklyn.
Proceeding her in death where her parents, four brothers (Leo, Pat, Tom, Robert) and six sisters (Stella, Virginia Stoffel, Pearl O’Brien, Lena Moore, Jeannette McGee, and Pauline McLaughlin).
Frances’ family would like to thank all the caregivers that provided passionate and heartfelt support during her extended illness, especially Brookdale Bath Nursing Home.
“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Rest in peace sweet angel until we meet again.”
Friends may call Tuesday December 3rd between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Joseph Rossi & Sons Funeral Home in Niles. Following calling hours, a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles. Entombment will be in Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
