Carmine Antonio Petrillo, 94, of Niles, formerly of Youngstown, passed away Saturday November 16th at the Hospice House in Poland.
He was born in Statigliano Caserta, Italy on July 29, 1925, the son of Carmine and Gelsomina Racioppi Petrillo.
Carmine married Anna Ricciardi in Italy on January 28, 1951 and they later moved to the United States in December of that year.
Carmine was employed at Bertolini Brothers as a laborer for a few years, and also at the Youngstown Water Department as a backhoe operator for 28 years before retiring in 1990.
He was a member of The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Youngstown and enjoyed gardening, making wine, homemade sausage and prosciutto, playing poker and bocce, going to the casino,and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Carmine will be deeply missed by his four children, Carmine Petrillo and his wife Angie, Giuseppe “Joe” Petrillo and his wife Dorothy, all of Houston,TX., Giovanna LaMonica and her husband Philip of Niles, Anthony Petrillo and his wife Kathy of Youngstown, eight grandchildren, Joey Petrillo and his wife Brittney, Jason Petrillo, Jennifer Allison and her husband Ryan, Carmine Petrillo, Angie Allen and her husband Greg, Alessandra LaMonica and her fiance Salvatore Ponzio, Antonella LaMonica, Anthony Petrillo, Vittorio “Vito” Petrillo, and ten great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anna, who died March 18, 2014, his daughter Ann Petrillo, who died July 15, 2018, his great-grandchild Aaliyah Allen who died June 22, 2019, his sister Margarita Petrillo Attanasio from Canada, who died January 31, 2016, and his brother Giuseppe Petrillo who died April 30, 2006.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7:30p.m. at the Joseph Rossi & Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Youngstown, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in South Park Cemetery in Houston, TX., with his wife and daughter.
