Connie Vulanich Obituary

Connie M. Vulanich, 93, of Dublin, OH. died peacefully after a short illness at 11:24 p.m. on  Sunday, November 22, 2020 at The Grand where she resided.

She was born January 15, 1927, in Niles, the daughter of Raffaele and Anna (Del Percio) Guacci.

Connie was a 1945 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. In addition to primarily spending her time at home raising her family, she was employed at various times as a cafeteria worker at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and Country Cupboard Restaurant located in Carlisle’s Department Store.

On May 2, 1953, she married her husband, John, who preceded her in death on August 22, 2009.

Connie was a member of the Catholic Women’s Guild, the Mount Carmel Society, Infant of Prague, and spent years volunteering at the annual Mount Carmel Festival and other church related activities.  While living in the Columbus area, Connie’s “adopted” parish was St. Brigid of Kildare Church.  There she was openly accepted and included in many parish events, attended Mass there both in person and during COVID attended virtually.

Connie enjoyed cooking, especially Sunday meals, being with her family, dancing, word search puzzles and engaging in conversation both with people she knew as well as those she didn’t know.  Connie’s pleasant personality allowed her to make friends easily and each of those friendships was an important part of her life.  Connie was a person of tremendous faith.  Her devotion to the Blessed Mother, the Rosary and prayer kept her very happy, content and able to provide or share a kind word for all who she met.  Her favorite saint, Saint Anthony, was her most cherished saint for more that just lost items.  Connie’s favorite saying was, “so long as everyone is happy and healthy, everything else will be fine.”

Connie, who lived for her children and grandchildren, will be deeply missed by her two sons, Matthew Vulanich and wife Nova of Dublin, Ohio, and John A. Vulanich and wife Betsy of Noblesville, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Reedy and husband Arthur of Westfield Center, Ohio, and Helen Vari and husband Frank of Rootstown, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Michael (Dani) Vulanich, Nicholas Vulanich, Madeline (Tyler) Caron and Tim Vulanich, nephews Ralph (Nancy) Dublikar, Jim (Terry) Dublikar, Frank (Jennifer) Vari, Nick (Anna) Vari and nieces, Tricia (Ted) Meyer and Karen Pavligo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and brother-in-law Lucille (Frank) Dublikar, brother-in-law, Steve Vulanich and sister-in-law, Josephine Vulanich.

The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to Msgr. Hendricks, Fr. Matthew Morris and Deacon Paul Zemanek of St. Brigid Parish who gave Connie spiritual strength and blessings during this most recent illness.  Also, our gratitude to the entire staff at The Grand who took loving care of Connie during these past three years of her life.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles where social distancing measures and facial coverings are mandatory.

Entombment will be in Niles City Cemetery.
