Dawn Pagano, 74 , of Niles entered heaven on June 21, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born in Warren, Ohio, on March 31, 1949, to T.L. and Frances Wood Boyer.
Dawn graduated from Niles High School in 1967, where she met her husband, Mathew. The two were married on August 29, 1970. They had three children, Mark, Stacey and Mathew.
Dawn was a graduate from Trumbull Nursing School in 1970. After graduation ,she worked one year at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She went on to work at Warren General Hospital, now known as St. Joe’s, where she was loved and respected, as the Midnight Shift Nursing Supervisor, until retiring in 2012. After retirement, Dawn enjoyed going to the casino with her husband and going to lunch with her friends. Her greatest enjoyment was the time spent with her grandchildren. Prior to her illness, she was at every game, recital, ceremony, and event she could get to. She was affectionately known as “Gree” to her grandchildren.
Dawn will always be remembered by everyone who was lucky enough to know her, as one of the kindest persons they ever met. She left her mark on this world, and it will never be the same for her family and friends. During her most recent stay, Dawn was visited by numerous co-workers and she received VIP treatment. Her family was fortunate to hear about the many wonderful memories they have of her, and the impact she made on them.
Dawn is survived by her husband of 53 years, Mathew; sons, Mark (Terra) Pagano of Pittsburgh, and Mat (Taylor) Pagano of Cortland; daughter, Stacey (Aaron) Alejars of Girard; grandchildren, Bella, Bobby, Joey, Dominic, Sofia, Nina, Gia, Vincent, Luca and Talia; sister, Ann (Rick) Malone; sister-in-law, Georgia Streamo; nieces Kate and Maggie; nephews, Donnie, Chris and Rick; great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins; friends; and her former co-worker and best friend, Jan Divelbiss.
Preceding Dawn in death were her parents; in-laws, George and Margaret Pagano; and brother-in-law, Donald Streamo.
The family would like to thank the ICU Staff at St. Joseph’s Mercy-Health, for their excellent and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Niles preceded by a 10:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
