Edith Altier Obituary

Edith G. Altier, 83, of Niles, passed away at 9:33PM Thursday March 19, 2020 at her residence.

She was born May 23, 1936 in Warren the daughter of Frank and Mildred Stoner Gimma.

Edith was a 1953 graduate of Howland High School, employed for 33 years as a press operator at Delphi Packard Electric retiring in 1988, and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, participating in Girl Scouts with her daughter, was treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 31, and den leader of Cub Scout Troop 36.

Her husband James E. Altier Sr. whom she married November 20, 1954 died January 17, 2001.

She will be sadly missed by her two sons, James E. Altier Jr. and his wife Raelyn of Niles, Joseph V. Altier and his wife Andrea of Fort Wayne, Indiana, her daughter Sheryl Reitz of Niles, her sister Gloria Gilliand and her husband John of Warren, 11 grandchildren, Heather Miranda and her husband Scott, April Reitz, Ivy Reitz, James Altier III and his wife Megan, Michael Altier, Christopher Altier, Brandon Brown, Ashly Broadway Altier(Ricky Harris), Nathanial Schlabs, Ian Schlabs, Joe Altier Jr., and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony Gimma, Mark Gimma, and Frank Gimma.

Funeral services will be private.
