James L. Calabria, 83, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at his residence.
He was born January 31, 1939 in Youngstown the son of Luigi and Julia Stefanich Calabria.
He married Josephine Sabino on May 9, 1964 and they remained lifelong residents of Niles.
Jim was employed as a tow motor operator at Parker Hannefin-Commercial Intertech for 30 years retiring in 2001. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles and The Beaver Sportsman Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was also an avid Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He wished to be a part of the armed forces but could not serve due to his hearing loss. He was a strong supporter of all armed forces and veterans. He will be sadly missed by two daughters Jodi Vasko and her husband Sean of Austintown and Kari Calabria with whom he made his home, two grandchildren, Deidre Minniti and Sean Vasko, and a brother Joseph Calabria of Austintown. He also leaves his grand dogs Bensen and Piper, and his cat Smoky.
He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine and daughter Jamie Calabria . Friends and family may call from 4-6 PM with a memorial service at 6PM on Thursday, September 1 st at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses, Keri, his social worker, and Chaplain Dan of Ohio Living Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during this difficult time.
