James Sudano Obituary

James P. Sudano, 77, of Niles, died at 4:38PM Sunday September 2. 2018 at his residence.

He was born November 12, 1940 in Niles the son of Nicholas and Pauline Reino Sudano.

Jim lived and worked in the Niles area his whole life. He spent the first three years at St. Stephen School. When Mt. Carmel built their new school in 1949 he attended school there until 8’th grade. Jim’s class was the first graduating class from the new Mt. Carmel School.

After graduating from 8’th grade Jim attended Brunnerdale Seminary in Canton, Ohio for two years. Upon leaving the Seminary he enrolled in Niles McKinley High School for his last two years of High School. Jim’s class of 1958 was also the first graduating class of the new Niles McKinley High School.

The lure of Navy life took Jim to Key West, Florida for a year and Hawaii for two and a half years. He used to kid people saying he defended our country on the shores of Key West and Waikiki Beaches.

After his service time, he began working at Delphi Packard Electric until retiring in 1999. He had many friends while working his 36 years.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles. He volunteered for their first Friday of the month pizza sales and also at the annual festival. He sang in the choir and also volunteered to serve community dinners at the church and at St. Vincent DePaul Society Hall on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Jim enjoyed vacationing with his family tremendously. He liked to golf and especially liked the poker games with his friends. He was a fan of Niles McKinley and Penn State football and New York Yankees baseball. He loved 50’s Music, his favorite song was “In The Still of the Night” by The Five Satins and one of his favorite sayings was “ I love it when a plan comes together” A passion for gardening, he supplied his neighbors with tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini. He also enjoyed his thornless blackberry bushes.

Jim, who was also known as Sudsy, Slammer, Suds, and Good Times Jimmy, will be deeply missed by his wife Sandra Lawrence Sudano whom he married June 26, 1995, a son Paul A. Sudano and his wife Kate of Lutherville, Maryland, three daughters, Denee( Sudano) Judy of State College, Pennsylvania, Nicole Sudano of Columbus,Ohio,  Kiersten DeRubba and her husband Brad of Fort Benning, Georgia, a step-daughter Vickie Liberatore of Niles, a brother Louis Sudano of Berlin Center, Ohio, two sisters, Pauline Muccio of Niles and Mary Jane Yurcho and her husband Leonard of Youngstown, 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Angelo, Nick “Cuppers”, Anthony, Joseph, and Michael Sudano, two sisters, Carmella Natale and Angeline Noga, a step-son Gary Liberatore Jr., and a great-grandson Alex Lee Liberatore.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles with The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry holding a 6:30PM prayer service.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Jim  will be honored for his military service by The Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.

Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
