John T. Danes Sr.

John T. Danes Sr., 95, of Niles, passed away on Tuesday November 17, 2020 at Antonine Village in North Jackson.
 
He was born December 7, 1924 in Niles the son of Giacomo and Almerinda Carlini Danes.
 
John was a 1943 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was employed as a laborer at Republic Steel and LTV for 39 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles and enjoyed spending time with his family, watching horse racing, going on casino trips with his nephew Thomas Danes, watching college football and complaining about the Cleveland Indians.  He became a hockey fan later in life, cheering for the Chicago Blackhawks.
 
He was a United States Naval Veteran of World War II having served in The South Pacific.
 
His wife Mary Markowitz Danes whom he married May 29, 1948 died on May 3, 2004.
 
He will be deeply missed by two sons, John T. Danes Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Austintown and James Danes and his wife Cindy of Upper Arlington, Ohio, as well as his loving daughter Cindy Bailey and her husband Raymond of Hilliard, Ohio, five grandchildren, Mary Pappada, Anne Knapke, Gigi Danes, Isabella Danes, and Ayla Danes and 3 great grandsons, Ben Pappada, AJ Pappada and John Paul Knapke.  He will also be missed by 2 step grandchildren, Miranda and Allissa Sparks.
 
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Sam, Dominic, Paul, Thomas, and Arnold Danes, and four sisters, Sue Scarnecchia, Ann Danes, Sophie Lubich, and Florence Massari.

Private funeral services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
