Kathryn Toriello Trina, 93, of Niles, went to live with our Lord and her brothers and sisters at 8:40PM Saturday August 24 at Continuing Health Care at The Ridge, two days after her 93’rd birthday.
She was born August 22, 1926 in Niles the daughter of Lorenzo and Concetta Frasca Toriello.
A large celebration of her birth was held on Thursday August 22, and she was very surprised and pleased. The party was given by Jean Mabie and Andrew Toriello, her niece and nephew.
Kay graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1945, was a life long resident of Niles, Ohio and member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles. Jerry’s Inn on Mason Street was a family owned and operated business which was her only occupation. She was a waitress, cook, and jack-of-all trades. Kay loved to make homemade pasta, cook, bake bread, pizzas, which she was well known for, and Italian Pastry. Her favorite hobby was bowling, and golfing, watching The Cleveland Indians and The PGA Tour on T.V. She also loved dogs and supported The ASPCA
Her husband Guy Trina whom she married August 28, 1948 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles died August 18, 2000. Sadly they had no children.
Kay will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, Lawrence and Mary Toriello of Wisconsin, Andrew and Peg Toriello of Connecticut, Dominic and Marie Toriello of Maryland, Jean Mabie of Sharon, Pennsylvania, Joseph and Louise Gentile Jr. of Niles, and Rose Marie and Jack DelBene of Girard, and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Andrew, Carmen, and Gerald Toriello, two sisters, Angeline Gentile and infant Caterina Toriello, a nephew Charles Mabie, and a niece Jeanne Eldridge and her husband Richard.
Friends may call from 5 to 7PM Wednesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
