Maria “Mary” Graora, 97, of Niles died Tuesday August 17, 2021 at The Cleveland Clinic.
She was born March 22, 1924 in Niles the daughter of John and Elena Macsin Albu.
Mary was a 1942 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and built and operated The Triland Ballroom in McKinley Heights in the 1940’s and 50’s with her siblings. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, St. John’s Romanian Orthodox Church in Niles, enjoyed cooking, baking, going out dancing to the big bands with her husband, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband Elmer Graora whom she married October 22, 1950 died May 27, 1992.
She will be deeply missed by two sons, Attorney David Graora and his wife Vicki of Vienna and Michael Graora and his wife Michelle of Newburgh Heights, five grandchildren, Daniel, Steven, Aaron, Abbie, and Alex who referred to her as “Buna”, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded In death by four brothers, John Albu, Eli Albu, Nick Albu, George Albu, and a sister Ann D’Alessandro.
Friends may call one hour prior to the 11AM funeral service Saturday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where facial coverings are recommended.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
