Marilyn D. Resek, 83, of Niles, passed away on Wednesday January 13, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Joseph’s Warren Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 20, 1937 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania the daughter of Harry and M. Elizabeth Farner Heisey.
Marilyn was a Youngstown State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree, magna cum laude, and employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a Medical Technologist for 25 years.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles and the Niles Historical Society. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, was a master seamstress, had a Brown Belt in Karate and took up boxing/weightlifting in her 70’s. Marilyn was also known for her great sense of humor.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Michael Resek whom she married September 13, 1983. Together, they enjoyed sharing their passion for history, the arts and travel. Marilyn is
survived by three sons, Samuel Piacquadio and his wife Tami of Howland, Joseph Piacquadio and his wife Diane of Cortland,and Nathan Resek and his wife Sara of Gahanna, Ohio, four daughters, Michelle Piacquadio of Girard, Deborah Piacquadio of Niles, Marianne Jeswald(CharlesSanders) of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and Regina O’Halloran and her husband Robert of Newport News, Virginia, a brother,William Heisey and his wife Lee of Pennsylvania, eight grandchildren, Tia Piacquadio, Allie Jeswald, Katherine Piacquadio(Leslie), Morgan Piacquadio, Alex Piacquadio, Eva Resek, Lily Resek, and Aaron O’Halloran, and two great-grandchildren Lucia and Jacob.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Margaret Piacquadio,two brothers Harry Heisey and David Heisey, and two sisters,Joan Pressler and Janie Nagle.
The family would like to thank St. Joe’s ICU staff, in particular,Rachel, Mark, Kailey and Courtney for their loving care of Marilyn.
Funeral services are private.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
Marilyn adored Lola, Piper and Bubba, her grand-dogs who brought a special comfort to her over many years.In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made in her memory to an animal shelter of choice.
