Myrna L. Turner

Myrna L. Turner, 71, of Niles, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Hospice of The Valley Hospice House in Poland, Ohio.

She was born September 30, 1944, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Myron and Mary Louise (Schroth) Samuels.

Myrna graduated in 1962 from Mineral Ridge High School. Five years later, she married her high-school sweetheart Larry G. Turner on September 9, 1967. She worked and devoted her time to raising her three daughters. Education was important to Myrna. In furtherance of this, she served on the Niles Board of Education from January 1, 1992 – December 31, 1995. She was later employed by the Niles City School System beginning on November 4, 1999. Most recently, she was an Administrative Assistant at Niles McKinley High School.  

Myrna was a member of Niles First United Methodist Church and its Rachel’s Circle Women’s Group. She also enjoyed reading and participated in a book club. Myrna cross-stitched a baby blanket for every new member of the family. She enjoyed continuing the traditions she experienced as a child with her family at the Canfield Fair each year, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. 

Myrna will be deeply missed by her husband Larry and their three daughters, Barbra Turner of Niles, Beth Aurilio and her husband Craig of Niles, and Alison Turner of Niles. She will also be missed by her brother Myron Samuels and his wife Sharon of Mineral Ridge. Her three grandchildren -  Lexi, Avallina, and Luca Aurilio - will miss their “Nana” very much.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Niles First United Methodist Church with Pastor Nathan Howe officiating.
