Norma Pappada Obituary

Norma Jane Pappada, 91, of Niles, wife of the late James P. Pappada, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Continuing Healthcare of Niles.
Norma was born March 25, 1929 in Martinsburg, West Virginia to George Ernest and Martha Anna (Davis) Manspeaker.
Norma graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1947 and later attended business school. She was a seamstress at Interwoven Mills in Martinsburg before relocating to Niles. She was employed at McKelvey’s and later obtained her real estate license where she worked for nearly 30 years with her dear friend Nancy Stauffer.  She retired in 1993 after 15 years at Kaufmann’s in the Eastwood Mall.
She was a member of The First Christian Church in Niles where she was a member of the Lydia Circle and had close friendships with all its members. She also served on the church board and as a deacon.
She often shared memories of playing high school basketball, working as a candy striper, camping as a Girl Scout, and working on the school newspaper.  She bowled for years on the women’s church league, enjoyed sewing and cooking.  She was active on the Ohio Board of Realtors where she served in various offices and received many sales awards.
Norma is survived by her local daughter and grandson Linda Harden and Tyler, her sons Thomas Harden, Jr. (Ginger) of Winchester, Virginia, Donald Jeffrey Porturica (Marcella) of Winslow, Arizona, Steven Porturica of St. Augustine, Florida and Joseph Porturica (Karen Disko) of Pomona Park, Florida, stepdaughters Patricia Tomko (Kenneth) of Westerville, Ohio and Jenny Jackson (Andy) of Charleston, South Carolina. She has 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was proceeded in death by her four sisters, Helen Wilson, Romona Schell, Dorothy Snavely, Joan Staubs and former husband Donald E. Porturica.
 Per Norma’s  wishes  cremation will take place.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
Material donations may be made to Niles Community Meals thru First United Methodist Church, 608 N. Crandon Avenue, Niles, Ohio 44446.
Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
