Paul A. Ciminero, 66, of Akron, passed away on Thursday December 29, 2022.
He was born January 9, 1956 in Warren, the son of Neil and Anne Mercurio Ciminero.
Paul was a 1974 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Warren and a graduate of Kent State University in 1981 with a BFA in telecommunications and a minor in international relations. While at Kent State, Paul was a host on the groundbreaking progressive/alternative music radio program FRESH AIR, on WKSU.
Paul had a long and varied career in the wine business. He began as a manager of a Chalet Wine and Cheese Shop in Chicago, was in sales for Joseph Phelps Vineyard and then a regional sales manager for Merryvale Vineyards in Napa Valley. After retirement, he pursued his lifelong love of radio and music as a DJ first at KUSF Radio in San Francisco and then with his own podcast Transmusic Airwaves. He was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of multiple genres of music, his humor, and the creative programming that he brought to his show.
He also travelled extensively: Italy, Spain, France, Bali, China, Mexico, British Columbia and regular trips to the Albuquerque Balloon Fest.
He will be deeply missed by three brothers, Ronald Ciminero of Cincinnati, Neil Ciminero and his wife Sandra of North Lima, and Robert Ciminero and his wife Paula of Charlestown, Rhode Island, two sisters, Marianne Hurley of Wakefield, Rhode Island, and Sandy Bilovesky of Niles, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
