Samuel A. Giangardella, Jr. ,85, of Niles, Ohio died at 5:00 PM Wednesday, November 3, 2021, of natural causes at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio surrounded by his family.
He was born February 12, 1936, in Niles, Ohio, the son of Samuel and Anna (Agnello) Giangardella.
Sam was formerly employed as a produce manager for Loblaws and Golden Dawn Foods, a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, Ohio a past treasury of the Mount Carmel Saint Vincent DePaul Society, and long-term festival worker and member of Knights of Columbus Council 1681.
Sam enjoyed following the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. He especially enjoyed watching his sons, daughter, and grandchildren participating in sporting events. He also took great pride tending to his yard and gardening.
Sam was a life-long resident of Niles, Ohio, a 1953 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, and a United States Army Veteran.
Sam will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Mary Helen (Doherty) Giangardella whom he married January 27, 1958, four sons, Mark (Susan) Giangardella of North Canton, Ohio, Sam (Cheryl) Giangardella of Tucson, AZ, Danny (Jan) Giangardella of Powell, Ohio, John (Susan) Giangardella of Powell, Ohio, and his daughter Anna Marie (Mike) Kotyuk of Warren, Ohio, two brothers, Anthony (Alice) Giangardella of Lancaster, New York, John (Joanna) Giangardella of San Clemente, California, twelve grandchildren, Emily (Mathew), Lisa Marie, Nathan, Daniel (Brittany), Thomas (Kayla), Monica, Dylan, Michael, Joseph, Samuel, Nicholas, and John Paul, a great grandson Grayson, sister-in-law Katherine Giangardella, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Phillip Giangardella, two sisters Grace Montevideo and Mary Giangardella and a brother-in-law Sam Montevideo.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles, Ohio where the Mt. Carmel Bereavement Society will conduct prayers at 4:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, Ohio preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Facial coverings are recommended for all family and friends coming to pay their respects at the funeral home and at the church.
