Albert J. Guarnieri Sr, 94, of Niles, died Tuesday July 7, 2015 at his residence.
He was born May 8, 1921 in Niles the son of Albert and Mary Guarnieri Guarnieri.
He was a 1940 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, was employed as a welder at Youngstown Steel Car and GATX in Masury for 40 years retiring in 1982.
Al was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and was a United States Air Force Veteran of World War II having served in England as an airplane mechanic.
His wife Clara Magliaro Guarnieri whom he married May 1, 1943 died December 17, 1977.
He will be deeply missed by a son Albert J. Guarnieri Jr. and his wife Julia of Niles, two daughters, Carla Padula and her husband Louis of Niles, and Mary Infante and her husband Joseph with whom he made his home, seven grandchildren, Albert J. Guarnieri III and his wife Kimberly, Lee Padula and his wife Smurti, Louis Padula III(Tracy Soda), T.C. Guarnieri and his wife Julie, Michael Guarnieri and his wife Angela, Christine Tedesco and her husband Todd, Joseph Infante and his wife Elyse, and six great-grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Michael, Grace, Aiden, and Gianna.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Angelo Guarnieri, Anthony Guarnieri, Armond Guarnieri, Joseph Guarnieri, Lawrence Guarnieri, and Arthur Guarnieri, and four sisters, Lena Crish, Ida Caruso, Viola Papas, and Isabel Capots.
Friends may call Friday from 8:30AM to 9:30AM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Albert will be honored for his military services by The Girard Veterans Council Honor Guard.
