Carl J. Olexo, 64, of Niles, departed this earth unexpectedly on Tuesday June 6, 2017 at his home.
He was born September 3, 1952 in Warren, the son of Mike and Margaret Zelusky Olexo.
Carl was employed as an auto technician at Stackhouse Oldsmobile in Youngstown for 15 years then owned and operated his own painting business until an injury prevented him from ever working further. He was a lifetime member of The Niles VFW Post 2074, the Niles Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1476, an avid camper at Leisure Lake, an avid NASCAR fan, and a former dirt track racer.
He was a United States Army veteran of The Vietnam War; Expeditionary Force. He was stationed on The DMZ in Korea from February 1970 to February 1973. He spent his 18’th birthday in Korea. He was a proud American and loved his country.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Lori Parker Olexo whom he married August 21 1982. Two sons Joseph Michael Olexo and his wife Pam of Chuluota, Florida, Gregory Allen Olexo and his wife Joni of Richmond Virginia, daughter, ” his littlest one” Carlin Olexo, at home. Three sisters, Janice Semple and her husband Tom of Niles, Janet Jones and her husband Charlie of Austintown, Margaret Paden and her husband Dale of Girard. A grandson Adam Olexo, his niece “Hot Rod” Karlene Pappada, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog and sidekick Felix.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 6 to 8PM Friday and from 10 to 11:00AM Saturday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles. Committal service will be held at 11:15AM Saturday at The Niles City Cemetery Chapel. Carl will also be honored for his military service Saturday at the cemetery.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
