Don G. Maffei, 84, of Niles died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday November 30th at Hospice House in Poland with his family by his side.
He was born November 6, 1930 in Warren the son of Joseph and Florence Kokrak Maffei.
Don was employed at Republic Steel for 35 years as a crane operator before retiring in 1985 and
was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles.
He was an avid Notre Dame fan, enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, working in his yard, and was a United States Marine Veteran.
His wife, Louise Bottiglieri Maffei, whom he married June 5, 1954, died July 8, 2011.
Don will be deeply missed by his son Joseph and his wife Sherri of Merritt Island, Fl.,
three daughters, Donna LaBuda and her husband Raymond of Niles, Jamie Irwin and her husband Jeff of Niles, Diane Piacquadio and her husband Joe of Cortland, six grandchildren Andrea Lewis, Kristen Vivo, Ashley and Amanda Irwin, Matthew Maffei and Alex Piacquadio.
He is preceded in death by his brother Michael Maffei and sister Gloria O'Neil.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles.
Private family processional will take place to All Souls cemetery in Bazetta.
