Louie “Lou” Tabor Jr, 65, of Niles died at 1AM Tuesday September 1, 2015 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.

He was born February 25, 1950 in Warren the son of Lou and Bessie Jane Williams Tabor Sr.

Lou was a 1969 graduate of Niles McKinley High School where he played both football and basketball and was selected to The All-American Conference team on both offense and defense in football. He then attended Wichita State for three years and played football and basketball. After college he went on to play semi-pro football for five years for the Youngstown Hardhats.

He was employed for The City of Niles in The Water Department for 23 years, enjoyed fishing, music, concerts, spending time with his grandchildren, and was always there for people trying to give them a helping hand. He was an avid Niles McKinley Sports fan, high school and college football fan, especially Ohio State University, a 19 year member of Narcotics Anonymous and in 2012 was inducted into The Youngstown Ebony Sports Hall of Fame for both football and basketball.

Lou, who loved to give hugs and had a hearty, high pitched, burly laugh will be deeply missed by his three children, Jada Tabor and her wife Dwan Hall of Garner, North Carolina,  Joaquin Tabor and his wife Lisa of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Tawnyka Tabor of Niles, four brothers, Joseph Tabor of Richland, Washington, Leslie Tabor and his wife Nancy of Niles, Timothy Tabor and his wife Donna of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Geoffrey Tabor and his wife Paula of Williamstown, Massachusetts, three sisters, Martha Truss and her husband Michael of Warren, Janet Tabor of Columbus, Ohio, and Cynthia Tabor of Mineral Ridge, four grandchildren, Jevon Tabor, Donovan Tabor, Devonte Tabor, and Isaac White, several nieces and nephews, and his special cousin Chris Tabor III who he spoke to daily on the phone and would always be heard giving him his burly laugh. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife Donna MacLellan Tabor.

Friends may call Saturday from 9AM to 12noon at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Funeral services will be held 12noon Saturday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles officiated by Pastor Jack Pettis.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
