Joseph A. Vigorito Jr., 76, of Champion went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015,at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House in Poland.

He was born Oct. 16, 1939 in Niles, Ohio, the first child of the late Joseph A. and Nina Liberator Vigorito Sr.

Joe was a 1957 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.  He was employed at the Warren Post Office, retiring in 2012, and was a United States Marine Corps veteran.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he faithfully served as Finance Chairman, Trustee and Usher.  He loved going to church and hardly ever missed a Sunday.  During his career at the Post Office he was a mail carrier, maintenance/carpenter and retired as a clerk.  Patrons loved him and he went above and beyond the call of duty to do his job.  He received numerous accolades over the years, from not only management, but also his customers.  He reached top status in his craft very quickly due to his strong work ethic.  Upon his retirement, customers truly missed Joe.

He loved spending time with family and friends and watching his grandkids play sports. Joe and Carol were always together enjoying Joe’s many interests.  His love of dance shined on the dance floor when he and Carol would break out and do the jitterbug.  On many a Sunday you could find them cruising the area in “Pinky” his ’62 Buick Wildcat, looking for that one restaurant that they hadn’t found yet.   A devoted Browns, Indians, Buckeyes and Penguins fan in good and bad times.  An accomplished trumpet player in younger years, he enjoyed local orchestra and band concerts as well as those for his grandchildren.  He loved to travel and enjoyed casinos, going to plays at TNT, golfing and playing poker with friends.  His greatest joy was watching his granddaughter show her horse at the local and state fair and grandson in the All Ohio State Fair Band.

Loving memories of Joe will be carried on by his wife Carol Mathe Vigorito whom he married on Aug. 16, 1985; children, Renee McCloskey and her husband Mark of Cortland, Ryan Scott of Champion, Theresa Rohland and her husband George of Niles and Maria Laskay of Niles; three brothers Anthony Vigorito of Niles, Michael Vigorito and his wife Sherry of Statesville, N.C., and Nicholas Vigorito and his wife Karen of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Carole Dellinger of Niles, Sandra Jennings of Warren and Carmella  Ruman and her husband John of Niles;  grandchildren Mark II, Megan, Alyssa, McKenzie, Matthew, Michael, Anthony and Bobby; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sons Joseph A. Vigorito  III and Dominic V. Vigorito; two brothers Raymond Vigorito and Daniel Vigorito, and his parents.
