Dorothy T. Mollica, 94, of Niles died at 5:55PM Friday January 30, 2015 at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles.
She was born April 16 1920 in Niles the daughter of Emilio and Mary Caciale D’Amico.
Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was employed at Griswald’s and Strauss Department Store in Warren prior to opening the first Mount Carmel School Cafeteria in the mid 1950’s for 25 years. She started her own business, Mollica’s Catering in 1970, then in 1981 opened Mollica’s Banquet Center in downtown Niles before retiring December 31, 2002.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, Mount Carmel Society, member and past president of Mount Carmel School Mother’s Club, member and past president of Catholic Women’s Guild, and named in Who’s Who for business in the 1970’s.
Her favorite memories with her family were summer vacations on the beach and sewing her children’s and grandchildren’s wedding, prom, Easter, and First Communion gowns.
Dorothy also enjoyed cooking, baking with her family, reading, and playing cards.
Her husband Joseph J. Mollica whom she married June 14, 1941 died September 16, 1994.
She will be deeply missed by a son Joseph G. Mollica of Traverse City, Michigan, three daughters, Lorene Consiglio of Warren, Janis Harbison and her husband David of Freeport, Pennsylvania, Gerry Clark and her husband Joseph of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, twelve grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson John, and two brothers Louis D’Amico and Joseph “Pep” D’Amico.
Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30AM to 11:30AM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 noon Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 11:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
