Mrs. Schaffer,
One of my favorite teachers of all time. Last time I saw you I would have to say is around 2004-2005 timeline after I graduated highschool in 2003 when I first started college at Kent State I was a Psychology major from 2003 to 2006 and from 03 to 06 is when I went part time before working 2 to 3 jobs at a time spending about 12,000 dollars out of my own pocket and going full time from 2007 to 2009 but I had planned to get a Bachelors, then a Masters in Psychology at the time but the Upper division was becoming more expensive and at the time there was more opportunity with Criminal Justice but after I got the Bachelors in Justice I was and too this day 4 or 5 classes away from getting a 2nd Bachelors in Psychology but financial aid upper management wouldnt give me any more because they felt since I already had one bachelors what was the need for a 2nd one and I spoke that since I was that close might as well get the 2nd one. So heres the thing if I continue working good like this now I will have my student loans paid off from getting the Justice one back in 2011. So heres what I truly enjoyed in the Psychology years: Classical Conditioning Pavlov's studies Unconditioned stimulus food elicits an unconditioned response salivation. Neural stimulus becomes conditioned stimulus. Operant conditioning you got the reinforcer increases response probability. Positive reinforcement- response followed by presentation of reinforcing stimulus. Negative reinforcement- response followed by removal of unpleasant stimulus. Stimulus generalization- response will occur to similar stimuli. Stimulus discrimination- responses do not occur to different stimuli. Timing of reinforcers- the sooner a reinforcer follows an action the greater its effect. Fixed ratio- reinforcement after a fixed number of responses high rates of responding. Variable ratio- reinforcement after average number of responses high rates of responding. Fixed interval- reinforcement after fixed amount of time scalloped response pattern Variable interval- reinforcement after a variable amount of time, low steady rate of response.

My heart sank when I heard the news of the death of our beloved Roseanne M. Schaeffer. I think that Roseanne was a part of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School from its beginning, first as a student in the late forties, and all the way to its closing in the first decade of this still new century, as a faithful and talented teacher. In fact, if I remember correctly, she began her teaching career while still a student at YSU. Not many can boast of such a fine legacy of love and devotion to their calling. She brought hundreds of young and impressionable minds and hearts to Christ preparing them for First Communion, and remaining with us as a friend and exceptional role model. I am sure there is a special place in Heaven for her, and I sincerely hope her family takes comfort in that certainty as they grieve her passing.

Jesus modeled for us the life of compassion, care and concern for one another. A trait that was so evident in the life of our beloved Mrs. Schaeffer. Her deep faith in God instilled in her by her parents Rita and Rosario allowed her to grow and share that true faith with all of us. She was Our Lady of Mount Carmel School! Her students were her passion and she taught us more than what was in a textbook. She taught us to follow in the footsteps of Christ; sharing in that wonderful mission Jesus himself asks of us each and every day of our life! Mt. Carmel School and Mt. Carmel Church were her passion for many years as well as the care and compassion she had for her family. So proud of her nieces and nephews! What a joy to have had her as a teacher but more importantly as a FRIEND! May Jesus,
now carry her home to the love, peace and joy of our Heavenly Father.

I attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School for 8 years. During that time, I had some amazing lay teachers and nuns who taught me all about academics and about the Catholic religion. I can honestly say that there was only a handful that made such an impact on my life such as she did. She always joked with me that she was responsible for my "beautiful" handwriting, and that it was because of her that I was always so detail oriented and organized. All of that is very true. Throughout the years, she was always in my life for whatever reason. We became extremely close and developed a friendship that I will cherish forever. She was my "Friday Night Card Playing Partner" too! Oh how upset she would get with me if I played the "wrong" card! But we had a blast every week, playing cards, eating some munchies, and listening to the radio. So you see, she taught me much more than how to write nice, be organized, and how to play cards. She taught me about life. How to be a good person. How to be kind to one another and how to live a life with God as a presence. She taught me about love and how to overlook the bad in people and find the good in them instead. So, I'm going to miss this wonderful, caring person forever. She will always be in my heart. As my teacher, my mentor, my friend. Rest in the arms of Jesus my dear Rosea!!

A great teacher and inspiring role models for generations of students, Roseann was the heart and soul of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School for decades. Catholic education was blessed by her faithful witness and service. Along with her parents, she made a unique contribution to Italian American Catholicism by creating and hosting the very first Meatball Novena. Prayers go out to the Frandanisa clan as you mourn her passing and celebrate her life.
