Sam Mollica, 88, of Niles died at 5:29AM Thursday September 18, 2014.
He was born June 21, 1926 in Niles the son of Gaetano and Marianne Segreto Mollica.
Sam was a 1944 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and employed as a payroll clerk at LTV Republic Steel.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, Niles Democratic Club, 2007 Niles McKinley High School Hall of Fame inductee, and member of the Chain Gang at Niles Red Dragon Football Games for over 50 years.
He enjoyed bowling, bocce, dancing, and was a United States Naval veteran of World War II.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Dorothy Husosky Mollica whom he married June 26, 1948, a son Sam Mollica and his wife Diane of Niles, a daughter Denise Welsh and her husband Dan of Niles, three grandchildren, Delia McFadden and her husband Brent, Dinah Welsh, and Sam N. Mollica, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Tony Mollica, Pete Mollica, and Joseph Mollica, and two sisters, Phyllis Gayonski and Carmella Secola.
Private funeral services will be held.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Sam will be honored for his military service.
